Look down. A great emerald leaf gleams on the ground. Your mother speaks from the dewdrops. An unlikely heaven, this uneaten tree star.


Look up. Her shadow steps across the rust-teared canyon wall. Trot after her on your little feet. Little foot after little foot. Lick the rockface.


Look closer. Her shadow was always, only your own.
